The Siemens ACUSON NX3 Elite is a mid-range, multi-purpose ultrasound machine designed for a wide range of applications. Thanks to its large selection of efficient probes, the NX3 Elite offers great support in Fetal, Abdominal (including liver), Pediatric, Small Parts (Small Organ), Transcranial, OB/GYN, Pelvic, Neonatal, Cardiac, Vascular (including Peripheral Vessel), Musculoskeletal, Superficial Musculoskeletal, and Urology applications.

The NX3 Elite comes with a wide 21.5″ LCD monitor, a 10.4″ touch screen, and customizable shortcuts. The customization features and soft keys have been upgraded to further increase user productivity when scanning. It also supports 13 transducers covering frequencies of up to 16MHz (linear), and fields of view of up to 220° (endocavitary, wide angle). To add to this already impressive variety, the NX3 ELITE also supports a large footprint linear transducer (greater than 50mm), and a small footprint hockey stick linear transducer.

Siemens has integrated in the NX3 Elite several clinically requested features and options like eSie Touch Elasticity Imaging, Cadence Contrast Agent Imaging for General Imaging, syngo Auto OB Measurement, syngo Auto Follicle Measurement, and 3D/4D for Obstetrics and Gynecology. Additionally, Siemens has migrated a competent set of knowledge-based cardiovascular features from its legacy products such as Clarify Vascular Enhancement (VE) Technology, syngo Arterial Health Package (AHP), syngo Auto Left Heart (Auto LH), and Axius edge-assisted Ejection Fraction.

The overall wide variety and combination of powerful features and options make the Siemens ACUSON NX3 Elite a great choice for any clinical setting where ultrasound is needed.

The Siemens ACUSON NX3 Elite shares the same system architecture as the Siemens ACUSON NX3. This makes it easy to upgrade a NX3 into a NX3 Elite, which provides convenience and flexibility especially for tighter budgets. The NX3 Elite supports a broader range of transducers which translates into a wide range of applications with more advanced General Imaging and Cardiovascular features as options.

Compared to GE and Samsung ultrasound scanners, the Siemens ACUSON NX3 Elite is not as strong in OB/GYN. However, it has some unique features like the 220° wide field of view on the endocavitary transducer and a large footprint greater than 50mm offered by the linear transducer. While GE and Samsung systems are focused on showing better 3D/4D baby faces, the NX3 ELITE features Auto OB and Auto Follicles which are automated measurements that truly sets this system apart from its competitors. These unique features will enhance the work efficiency, exam quality, and reproducibility of any medical practitioners.

The ACUSON series is historically known for the advantages it presents to physicians in the cardiovascular field. With reliable measurement sets and knowledge-based automation functions such as the syngo Arterial Health Package, syngo Auto Left Heart (Auto LH), and Axius Edge-Assisted Ejection Fraction, the operator will have no difficulty completing daily-required cardiovascular exams.

Admittingly, the Siemens ACUSON NX3 Elite is a bit bulky with somewhat of an outdated design compared to newer generation systems from GE and Samsung. Regardless, the Siemens ACUSON NX3 Elite remains highly intuitive and user-friendly, and is packed with meaningful software. It’s those attributes that keep medical professionals coming back to ACUSON products.

With premium calculations and automation, the ACUSON NX series is positioned at a slightly higher price point, but is a smart and trustworthy investment for the right user. With the next system release, we expect a new and wider selection of transducer frequencies to strengthen the fundamental image quality of core transducers.
